Otakana

About Otakana

One anime name a day, the same one for everybody, plus a short note on where it comes from.

What it is

Otakana is a word game built around anime names. The daily puzzle changes at 00:00 UTC and is identical for every player, so the share grid means something. Beyond the daily there is Classic mode for unlimited rounds and an archive of past puzzles to practise on.

Getting the answer is only half of it. Every finished puzzle ends on a card explaining the character or term: which series, what year it debuted, and why anyone remembers it. If you lose, you still get the card. Losing and learning something is a fine outcome.

No account, no fuss

There is nothing to sign up for. Your stats, streak and assists live in your browser and go no further. Clearing site data clears your streak, which is the honest tradeoff for not asking you to register.

Not affiliated with anyone

Otakana is a fan-made word game. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any anime publisher or studio. Character and series names are used only to identify the subjects of puzzles.
