Chika Fujiwara is the secretary of the student council at Shuchiin Academy, where the president and vice president are locked in a private war over who says the words first. Chika knows nothing about that. She suggests board games, hands out worksheets, proposes group activities, and cheerfully demolishes carefully built traps by being present at the wrong moment.
Aka Akasaka uses her as the pressure valve. The series runs on internal monologue, elaborate psychological framing and a narrator announcing the winner of each round, and Chika is immune to all of it. She is also unpredictable in her own right, capable of turning a simple card game into a rout, which keeps her from settling into a single joke.
Her other legacy is the dance. The 2019 anime by A-1 Pictures closed episodes with Chika spinning through a loop of animation set to a nonsense song, which spread across social video for months and pulled in people who had never watched the show. Very few ending sequences have done more work for a series' audience numbers.
Spelling CHIKA
CHIKA is five letters, the given name, with Fujiwara held back for another day. The CH is a single kana, ち, so the sound is chi as in cheese rather than a hard K, and the usual wrong guesses are TIKA and CHICA. Written 千花 the name reads as thousand flowers. Two A-ending beats, chi and ka, and no doubled letters.
