Franky

Franky is a shipwright raised by a man who taught him to build ships and hated that he built weapons instead. After an accident tore him apart he repaired his own body with whatever was within reach, which is why his forearms are the size of oil drums and his stomach holds a cola supply. Run him dry and he becomes markedly less impressive very quickly.

He joined the Straw Hats by building them the Thousand Sunny out of a wood so rare that using it is a career decision. He arrives in a shirt he refuses to button and swimwear he refuses to replace, which becomes a problem every time the crew needs him to look respectable in public. His pose, forearms crossed above his head, is the closest thing this fandom has to a salute.

Under the modifications he is a sentimental man who cries more than anyone else on the ship and denies it while doing it. The word he shouts, super, went from catchphrase to greeting to something Oda draws whole panels around. His real name is Cutty Flam, which he abandoned years ago, and which the government eventually dug up and used against him.
