Mami Tomoe has been doing this a while. She patrols the city, hunts witches, and brings Madoka and Sayaka along to show them what the work involves before either of them signs anything, which makes her the only adult-shaped presence in the series despite being a third-year middle schooler herself. Her flat is immaculate. She lives in it alone.
Her magic produces ribbons, which she uses to bind enemies and to conjure muskets by the dozen. She fires one, drops it, pulls the next out of the air, and the ground fills with discarded guns while she works. The finishing move has a name she announces out loud, Tiro Finale, and she has obviously practised the delivery, which is a small sad detail about a girl with nobody to be silly in front of.
The elegance is a performance and the show is direct about why. Mami became a magical girl at the worst possible moment and has been alone with the job ever since, so two potential juniors matter far more to her than she lets on. Shaft aired the series in early 2011, and her episodes establish the tone that the rest of it then takes apart.

Four letters, MAMI, the given name; Tomoe is the family name and not the answer. Two beats, ma-mi, with the M repeating in the first and third positions and the vowels alternating A then I. Nothing long, nothing doubled. Once both M's are placed only two letters remain, which makes this one of the friendlier short rows in the library.
