Yamato grew up on Onigashima as the heir to an emperor, chained there for years by a father who wanted an inheritance accepted rather than a child raised. The rebellion took an unusual form. Yamato read the journals of Kozuki Oden, the samurai Kaido killed, took his name, his speech and his ambition, and has answered to Oden ever since.
The fruit is a Mythical Zoan giving the form of an enormous wolf deity out of Japanese folklore, with breath cold enough to freeze what it touches, and the weapon is a studded club much like the father's. Yamato fights alongside the Straw Hats during the assault on the island, largely because Luffy is the first person to treat the whole Oden business as simply true.
The character caused a great deal of English-language argument, since Yamato is introduced as Kaido's daughter, speaks of himself as Oden's son, and has been given different pronouns by different translations. Oda has left the question where he put it. What the story is unambiguous about is the loneliness underneath: twenty years of a locked door and one book read to pieces.
Spelling YAMATO
YAMATO is six letters in three even beats, ya-ma-to, and it is a real Japanese word: an ancient name for the country, later a province, later a battleship. Nothing in it is lengthened or doubled. The Y opening is the useful part, since it is rare enough among these answers that finding it more or less settles the row.
