Sinnoh's legends say Arceus hatched from an egg in a place with nothing in it, then made the rest. The trio that follows from it handles the machinery: Dialga for time, Palkia for space, Giratina for whatever the other two are not. Arceus itself is a white and grey quadruped with a gold wheel around its middle and four green hooves, which is a restrained design for a creation myth.
Mechanically it is a Normal type that changes type depending on which elemental Plate it holds, so the same creature can turn up as Fire, Ghost or Steel. Its stat total is the highest in the series and evenly spread, which in practice means it does everything acceptably rather than one thing terribly.
For over a decade the only legal way to own one was an event distribution, handed out at cinemas and shops, so most players met it through the 2009 film or through other people's save files. Pokemon Legends: Arceus in 2022 finally built a whole game around the name.
Spelling ARCEUS
ARCEUS is six letters ending in a vowel pile, E and U side by side before the S, and that is where the row breaks. The Japanese katakana reads Aruseusu, with an R doing work an English ear will not hear. Say it ar-see-us, spell it with a C rather than an S, and keep the E in front of the U. No doubled letters anywhere.
