Dimple began as an evil spirit with ambitions. He built a religious group, collected worshippers, and used their belief to grow strong, which is a reasonable business model for a ghost. Then Mob walked in and dismantled the whole operation in an afternoon. Stripped of followers and reduced to a floating green lump with a face, Dimple attached himself to the boy who ruined him and never left.
He claims he is waiting for a chance to possess Mob and get his empire back. He has had a hundred chances and taken none of them. What he actually does is give bad advice, sulk, panic loudly during fights, and occasionally do something brave that he then denies. The running joke is that a former cult leader has become a nagging friend and is bad at noticing it.
ONE drew Mob Psycho 100 as a webcomic from 2012, in the same rough style as One Punch Man, and Bones animated it in 2016 with an art department that treated every episode as an excuse to change technique. Dimple is a good test of that: a simple shape with two dots for eyes, animated well enough that his sulking reads from across the room.
Spelling DIMPLE
DIMPLE is the English name, and it is a translation rather than a transliteration. The Japanese calls him Ekubo, which is simply the word for a dimple in a cheek. So the row wants a plain English noun, six letters, with no Japanese spelling trap in it at all. DIMPLE is one of the few answers here you can spell without knowing any Japanese.
