Frieza

Frieza runs an empire that buys and sells planets, clearing the population first and handing the real estate on. He speaks softly, thanks his subordinates, and finds violence a little distasteful to look at, which does not slow him down. He blew up Planet Vegeta and the Saiyan race with it, on the grounds that a species which grows stronger every time it survives a beating is a poor long-term investment.

He comes to Namek for the Dragon Balls, wanting immortality, and spends the arc peeling out of one body after another. The first three forms are armour he wears for the sake of restraint. The fourth is small, smooth and white, and it is the one that fights properly. The confrontation that follows became a byword for anime pacing: the planet is given five minutes to live, and those five minutes take the anime a great many episodes to spend.

The name is a freezer, and his relatives keep the theme. His father is King Cold and his brother is Cooler, whose name only works if you say it in English. Frieza has been killed, rebuilt in metal, revived by wish, and put back in the story every few years since 1991, because no replacement villain has ever landed quite as well.
