Greed is the homunculus who says the quiet part out loud. Where his siblings hide behind a plan, he lists his desires: wealth, power, a long life and everything else that exists. That candour, plus a taste for the company of chimeras and outcasts, makes him the one member of the family who behaves like somebody with friends.
His body handles the rest. Greed rearranges the carbon in his skin into a black shell harder than steel, a trick the series calls the Ultimate Shield, and it holds against nearly anything short of an opponent who understands the chemistry involved. Beating him usually means outthinking the shield rather than breaking it.
He also breaks the family pattern in a way the story keeps returning to. Greed left once, was punished heavily for it, and never quite stops wanting a set of people who are his rather than a set of objects. For a character named after acquisition, what he mostly ends up collecting is company he did not plan on.
Spelling GREED
GREED is five letters with the double E doing all the work: find one and the other sits beside it. There is no Japanese underneath the name, since Arakawa gave every homunculus an English sin word, so the spelling is straight from the dictionary. GR at the front is the only consonant cluster in the row.
