Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez is the sixth Espada, and the number is stamped on his back. Aizen's Arrancar are organised, ranked and told to behave, and Grimmjow does none of that. He picks fights he has been ordered to leave alone, loses an arm for it, gets it back, and goes straight back to the same opponent. His stated motive is that he wants to be the one who wins, which he means literally.

The theme is cat. His released form, Pantera, gives him claws, a tail, and teeth, and his attacks read as pouncing rather than swordsmanship. Where other Espada philosophise about despair and nothingness, he shows up wanting a rematch. That makes him the most legible villain in a cast built on layered schemes, and probably the most popular.

Tite Kubo gave the Arrancar Spanish-flavoured technique names and German-flavoured surnames, which is how a Hollow ends up called Jaegerjaquez. The mix is deliberate nonsense and it works, in the way that Bleach's whole naming scheme works: the sound comes first and the meaning arrives later, if at all.

Spelling GRIMMJOW

GRIMMJOW is eight letters with a double M in the middle and a W hanging off the end, and both are easy to miss by ear. The Japanese is グリムジョー, closer to Gurimujo, so the English spelling is an invention rather than a transliteration. Lead with the double M once you have any M confirmed. The surname is not the answer, which is a mercy.
