Hinata Hyuga has the Byakugan, which gives her near-total vision around her own body and lets her see the chakra pathways inside somebody else's. Her clan's gentle fist strikes those points directly, shutting down an opponent's ability to use chakra at all. It is a devastating style, and it demands a certainty she spends most of the series not having.
Her father wrote her off young. The Chunin Exams put her in a ring against her cousin Neji, who explains at length that she cannot change what she is, and she keeps standing back up. That fight is the first time the series lets her be brave in public, and most of what follows for her grows out of it.
The other thread is Naruto. She watched the entire village ignore him and drew the obvious conclusion, that somebody who keeps going while alone is worth copying. Her family name 日向 is normally read Hyuga, but the same two characters also spell hinata, the ordinary word for a sunny spot. The pun sits right there in the middle of her name.
Spelling HINATA
HINATA is six letters in strict alternation, consonant then vowel, three beats: hi-na-ta. Two A's, both on even tiles, and nothing gets dropped from the Japanese. The competition is the other famous Hinata, the orange-haired volleyball player in Haikyuu, whose name is spelled exactly the same way, so at least that confusion costs you nothing here.
