Inuyasha is half dog demon and half human, which in his world means both sides want nothing to do with him. He wears a red robe woven from fire-rat fur, carries a sword called Tessaiga that was cut from his father's fang, and spends most of the series hunting shards of a jewel that a schoolgirl shattered by firing an arrow at a bird.
That schoolgirl controls him. Kagome wears a rosary that a village priestess dropped around his neck, and the word sit slams him face down into the ground from any distance. Rumiko Takahashi uses it constantly and it never stops working, partly because he keeps earning it. Underneath the noise he is loyal to an embarrassing degree and cannot admit it without picking a fight first.
Takahashi ran the manga in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1996 to 2008, fifty six volumes, and Sunrise animated it from 2000. It followed Ranma 1/2, ran for twelve years, and did a great deal of the work of introducing late-night Western audiences to Japanese folklore, since almost every monster of the week is a creature somebody's grandmother could have named.
Spelling INUYASHA
INUYASHA is eight letters and one word, which is the first trap, because the official English styling capitalises the middle as InuYasha and the tiles take none of that. Inu means dog. The name reads in four even beats, i-nu-ya-sha, and three A's sit in the back half, so placing one of them tends to collapse the rest of the row quickly.
