Kyoya Ootori is the third son of a family that owns hospitals, which in his case means he inherits nothing and has to build a reason to be kept. He handles the Host Club's accounts, its scheduling, its merchandise and its damage control, and he is very good at all of it. Tamaki founded the club. Kyoya is the reason it makes money.
The notebook is a running joke that keeps turning out to be true. He has files on the students, their families, their finances and their preferences, and he produces the relevant page whenever the plot needs a lever. He is also, by his own account, not a morning person, and the club treats waking Kyoya early as a genuine safety hazard.
Bisco Hatori ran Ouran High School Host Club in LaLa from 2002 to 2010, and Bones animated twenty-six episodes in 2006. The series works as a parody of reverse harem manga that also delivers one, and Kyoya is where the parody is sharpest: a character type built entirely out of cold profile shots and glasses glare, handed an actual balance sheet to worry about.
Spelling KYOYA
KYOYA drops a vowel the Japanese keeps. The name is Kyouya, with a long O in the middle, and the standard English spelling flattens it to KYOYA, five letters. The opening is the other snag: KY is one sound, kyo, not two, so do not reach for an I. The family name Ootori has its own doubled O, but the row wants the given name.
