Madara Uchiha led his clan through a period when clans were the only real power in the world, and his opposite number was Hashirama Senju. The two had been friends as boys, before either knew whose son the other was. The village they built together ended a century of war, and Madara left it convinced that the peace was a decoration laid over the same old problem.
As a fighter he is the ceiling everything else is measured against. Both Sharingan, a colossal Susanoo, a war fan he swings to clear a battlefield, and the Nine-Tails under his control the last time he and Hashirama fought. That fight carved the Valley of the End, where two vast statues face each other across a waterfall, and Kishimoto restages it later with the next generation.
His return during the war arc is the moment the fandom quotes most, largely because he treats an army of the world's best ninja as a mildly diverting evening. The name 斑 means mottled or spotted. His brother is called Izuna, and the pair mirror Itachi and Sasuke closely enough that the parallel is plainly deliberate.
Spelling MADARA
MADARA alternates cleanly, consonant then A, three times over: MA, DA, RA. Three A's out of six letters means one confirmed A hands you half the row at once.
