Marcille is the party's magic user, the one who lights the corridors, mends the wounds and objects loudly to dinner. Her objections lose every time. She screams at the walking mushrooms, refuses the basilisk, then eats it and admits under interrogation that it was good. Reading her face through a meal is most of the comedy, and Trigger's animators gave her an entire extra register of it.
She is also the most educated person on the team. Marcille trained at a magic academy, works from theory rather than instinct, and knows exactly which spells the dungeon's old builders used, which is why she is more frightened of the place than anyone. Half elf, she will outlive the rest of the party by centuries, and Ryoko Kui lets that fact sit quietly under her cheerfulness for a long time.
Her cooking arc is the series in miniature. Disgust, curiosity, a decent meal, then a lecture about nutrition delivered to people who no longer need it. She keeps a nutritional chart. Senshi, who has lived down there for years on a balanced diet of monsters, agrees with her more often than she expects.
Spelling MARCILLE
MARCILLE is eight letters and the tail is where guesses die. It ends CILLE, French in shape, not MARCIL and not MARSILLE. The Japanese is written mid dot free as a katakana string that reads Marushiru, which gives you no help at all with the doubled L or the silent final E. Say it mar-sill, then spell it with the extra letters the sound never asks for.
