Noelle Silva is the youngest child of House Silva, one of the Clover Kingdom's royal houses, and she carries more raw water magic than most of her relatives put together. Aiming it is the problem. Her spells arrive as a flood pointed wherever she happened to be facing, and in a training yard full of nobles that is a reputation nobody lets you outgrow.
Her family's answer was to hand her to the Black Bulls, the squad with the worst record and the least to lose. It worked out. Surrounded by criminals and lunatics who did not care what her surname was, she learned to hold a spell steady, then to shape it, and eventually to wear it. The stammering takes longer to fix than the magic does.
Her mother died when Noelle was an infant and the household decided the baby was to blame, which is the sort of thing a child absorbs without being told twice. Tabata plays her arrogance as armour and lets it crack on schedule. Among the Black Bulls she is the one whose growth gets measured in confidence rather than power, since the power was there from the start.
Spelling NOELLE
NOELLE is six letters with a double L and an E at each end, unusual enough to lock the row once you find it. It is the French Christmas name, spelled the long way. Japanese writes it ノエル, three beats, no-e-ru, so the doubled L and the trailing E are English decisions that the sound gives you no warning about.
