Sheeta is the girl the whole plot is chasing, though she spends most of the film being underestimated by everyone chasing her. She was raised in a mountain valley, herding animals and growing crops, and she can still do all of it. Her inheritance is a blue crystal on a cord, handed down through the women of her family with a set of words nobody remembered how to use.
Her full name ends in Laputa, the same as the man hunting her, and that shared ancestry is the argument at the centre of the film. Both of them can command the island. Only one of them believes the ability entitles him to anything. What she says about roots and soil late in the film is the closest Miyazaki comes to speaking through a character.
The crystal is a levitation stone, hikouseki, of a kind the people below can no longer make, and it works as a beacon, a light source or a parachute depending on what the story needs. Sheeta uses it deliberately only once or twice. The rest of the time it acts on its own, which the film treats as the island reaching for her.
Spelling SHEETA
SHEETA has a double E that comes from a long vowel rather than from English. シータ is Shiita, one long ee sound in the middle, and English releases write it as EE. Six letters, and the trap is assuming the doubled vowel might be an I. Her full name is much longer, but the game wants only SHEETA.
