Shizuo has been unnaturally strong since childhood, and the strength arrived faster than his body could handle it. He broke his own bones lifting a refrigerator at a family argument, and he spent years learning that anything he touches in temper stops existing. Vending machines are his signature: he uproots them and throws them, and Ikebukuro has more than most cities, so the supply holds.
He does not want to fight. That is the part that makes him work as a character rather than a joke. He took a job as a debt collector because it was the only work his reputation allowed, wears his brother's old bartender uniform because it is the only outfit that survives him, and tries very hard to keep his temper until one particular information broker walks into view.
His brother Kasuka is a film star with no visible emotions at all, which is presented as the same family trait pointing the opposite way. Narita names people for jokes: Heiwajima is peace island, and Shizuo is written with characters meaning quiet and masculine.
Spelling SHIZUO
SHIZUO is six letters and ends in a vowel pair, U then O, which English words rarely do. The SHI at the front is a single Japanese character costing three letters here, and the ZU in the middle is another. Otakana wants the given name, so Heiwajima is out. Once the S, H and I land, the second half follows quickly.
