Toshiro Hitsugaya runs the tenth division and is visibly a child, white-haired and permanently irritated, which he handles by insisting on his title with anyone who forgets it. He reached bankai younger than anyone on record. His lieutenant, Rangiku Matsumoto, does almost none of her paperwork and treats his authority as a suggestion, and the pairing produces most of the division's comedy.
Hyorinmaru is the strongest ice-and-water zanpakuto in the series, a dragon of ice that comes off the blade on a chain and freezes what it wraps. His bankai grows him wings and an ice tail, and it runs on a timer counted in petals of ice that shatter one by one, so his strongest form has a visible clock attached to it.
Before the uniform he was a boy in the Junrinan district living with an old woman and Momo Hinamori, and freezing the room in his sleep because he had no idea what he was carrying. The reason he holds rank so tightly is that rank is the first thing in his life that came with instructions.
Spelling TOSHIRO
TOSHIRO is the given name and the answer, not Hitsugaya. The kanji 冬獅郎 hides two long vowels, so a strict transliteration gives Toushirou, and fan sites cheerfully print it that way. Seven tiles have room for neither U. Drop both, keep the single S, and the row reads to-shi-ro in three clean beats with an O at each end.
