Usagi Tsukino is fourteen, late for school most mornings, bad at tests, and the leader of a team of magical guardians because a cat said so. Takeuchi refuses to fix her. Across five arcs she stays greedy, lazy, weepy and easily distracted, and the series argues that none of this disqualifies her from being the person everybody else follows.
What she has instead is an unreasonable capacity for caring about people, enemies included, which the plot repeatedly makes the deciding factor in a fight. She wins battles other characters would lose because she keeps trying to talk to whoever she is fighting. It is a strange engine for an action series, and it powers the entire thing.
The influence is hard to overstate. Sailor Moon put a team of girls in the fighting role, gave them transformation sequences, and sold a decade of merchandise doing it. Takeuchi drew the manga in Nakayoshi from 1991 while Toei animated it in parallel, and the two versions diverge in ways fans still enjoy arguing about.
Spelling USAGI
USAGI is five letters and a plain noun: rabbit. The surname Tsukino reads as of the moon, so her full name is roughly moon rabbit, the figure Japanese folklore sees pounding rice cakes on the lunar surface. The game wants the given name. Watch the G, which stays hard, and note the single S.
