Videl

Videl is the daughter of the man the world believes saved it, a loud champion in a cape who took credit for someone else's victory and has been living on it ever since. She grew up in a city named after him, learned to fight properly, and works with the police on cases they cannot handle. She is competent, blunt, and entirely unaware that the strongest people alive are hiding in her school.

Her way into the plot is blackmail. She works out that a classmate is the costumed hero the news keeps filming, and trades her silence for flying lessons. Learning to fly in this series means learning to control energy, which means she is now a martial artist with the same foundation as everyone else, and she cuts her hair short for the tournament without making a speech about it.

The Satan family names are all devils and rearranged devils, a running joke that survives translation intact. In English dubs her father is renamed Hercule, which loses the pun and leaves his daughter's name pointing at nothing in particular. She married Gohan in the end, so the devil joke now sits one generation deeper.
