Yoruichi Shihoin held two jobs at once in the Soul Society: captain of the second division and commander of the stealth force, the covert arm that handles executions and prisons. She walked away from both to break Kisuke Urahara out of a punishment he did not deserve, and the two of them have been living in the human world ever since, running a shop and waiting.
She spends her introduction as a cat, and the Japanese dub gives the cat a low male voice, so the reveal that Yoruichi is a woman lands as an actual surprise rather than a formality. Her fighting style is speed. The Soul Society calls her the Flash Goddess, and she teaches the movement technique that lets Soul Reapers cross a courtyard between frames.
As a noble in her own right she outranks most of the people who now hunt her, which she treats as a joke rather than a shield. Around Byakuya Kuchiki, whom she used to tease as a child, she still slips into the tone of an older sister who has stolen his hair ribbon.

YORUICHI is eight letters and the game wants this given name over the family name Shihoin. The word starts with 夜, yoru, the ordinary Japanese word for night.
