Haru is a Netherland dwarf rabbit at Cherryton Academy, where carnivores and herbivores share classrooms under rules everyone pretends are enough. She runs the gardening club alone. The rest of the school talks about her constantly, because she sleeps with whoever asks, and the gossip is a fair description of the facts and a terrible description of the reason.
Her logic is bleak and consistent. Every animal at Cherryton treats her as fragile, a thing to be carried and worried over, and the one moment nobody does that is when someone wants her. She takes the trade. When a very large grey wolf starts hovering nearby, the problem is that he is frightened of himself and she has never been frightened of anything.
Paru Itagaki began Beastars in Weekly Shonen Champion in 2016 and finished it in 2020. Studio Orange animated it in CG in 2019, which suits a cast where a rabbit and a wolf have to share a frame and the size gap is the entire point. Itagaki is the daughter of Keisuke Itagaki, who draws Baki, and the two manga have almost nothing in common except an interest in what bodies can do.
Spelling HARU
HARU is four letters and one of the shortest answers in the game. There is no trap beyond the vowel at the end, which English speakers want to cut. The Japanese R is a tap, closer to a soft D than to an English R, so the name sounds a little like hadu out loud. It is still an R on the tiles.
