The cadet the 104th knows is Krista Lenz, small and blonde and relentlessly kind, the one who stops to help and gets called a goddess for it. Ymir, who sees straight through the performance, needles her about it constantly. Kindness that determined is usually paying off a debt, and in this case it is paying for a childhood spent being told she should never have been born.
Her father heads the family that has quietly held the throne behind the walls for a century, and the name Krista was handed to her to keep her out of sight. When the truth surfaces she has to decide whether to keep playing the girl everybody likes. What she picks is one of the better answers the series gives anyone: she stops being good and starts being useful.
The show moved her from a background face in the training arc to a load-bearing piece of the plot across seasons two and three, and the change of name is the marker for it. Fans who came in through the anime still call her Krista out of habit. Once the pieces land, most of her early scenes read differently on a rewatch.
Spelling HISTORIA
HISTORIA is eight letters and, unusually for this cast, an actual word: the Latin and Greek for history or inquiry, handed to a girl whose entire plot is a buried record. Spell it exactly as you would the noun, ending on the A. The real trap is that the game wants this name and not KRISTA, which she answers to for most of two seasons.
