Lelouch vi Britannia was exiled as a child after his mother's murder and his sister's blinding, dumped in Japan as a hostage, and left there when the empire invaded. He grows up under a false name at Ashford Academy, gambling at chess against bored nobles for money he does not need. Then a girl called C.C. gives him a power, and the schoolboy invents a terrorist called Zero the same week.
What he does with the Geass is mostly logistics. One command per person, spent well, buys him an army, a hijacked broadcast, or a general walking into the wrong valley. His plans work when he has time to prepare the board and collapse when someone does something he did not budget for. Sunrise animated the reactions to match: the eye widening, the laugh that goes on slightly too long, the hand over the face.
The friendship with Suzaku is the engine. They met as children, want the same outcome, and disagree so completely about method that every season ends with the two of them pointed at each other. Jun Fukuyama voiced him across both seasons in 2006 and 2008, and Code Geass has stayed in argument ever since, mostly about whether its ending is the cruellest possible act of kindness.
Spelling LELOUCH
LELOUCH is seven letters and almost none of them are where the audio puts them. The Japanese reads Rurushu: two R sounds that the English spelling turns into two L's, and a final shu written as CH. The OU in the middle is a French-looking flourish rather than a long vowel mark. Sound the name out in Japanese and you will type nothing usable.
