Nagisa Shiota keeps a notebook. Other students keep notes on English verbs; his is a running file on the target, listing habits, tells, blind spots and the exact conditions under which a creature moving at mach twenty can be made to hold still. He is quiet, easily mistaken for a girl, and routinely underestimated by everyone in the room, which turns out to be the useful part.
What he has is a talent for reading people and for emptying himself of intent long enough to get within arm's reach. A professional assassin hired to train the class spots it immediately and calls it a gift, which is not a compliment anyone wants about their thirteen-year-old. Assassination Classroom spends much of its second half asking what a boy with that particular skill should do with his life.
The story is narrated largely through him, so the class reads as a place rather than a roster. Yusei Matsui serialized it in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012, Lerche animated it in 2015, and live-action films followed. The class number is worth reading twice: 3-E is the end class, and the school keeps it up a mountain in an old wooden building so the other students can see what failure looks like.
Spelling NAGISA
Six letters, NAGISA, and it is the given name; the family name Shiota never comes up in the puzzle. It is written with a single kanji meaning the water's edge, and it splits cleanly into three beats, na-gi-sa. No long vowels, no doubled consonants, nothing hiding. The alternating consonant and vowel pattern means one green letter tells you a lot about the rest.
