Obanai Iguro is the Serpent Hashira, and his sword is the strangest in the corps: a wavy blade that moves like something crawling, suited to Serpent Breathing, which strikes at angles nobody sees coming. Kaburamaru, the white snake he wears, is not decoration. It watches the fight for him and reports what his own eyes miss, which is a genuine advantage against demons who move faster than sight.
The wrappings hide scars from a childhood he refuses to discuss. He is suspicious of nearly everyone, hostile in meetings, and openly disliked Tanjiro for a long time on the reasonable ground that the boy travels with a demon. He is also the one keeping the most careful watch on the corps' actual interests, which the story pays off later.
His long-running feelings for Mitsuri are one of the few soft things in his entire characterisation, and the series plays them almost entirely through letters and a bad poker face. In a cast built on grief, Iguro is the Hashira who has decided that being unpleasant is safer than being known.
Spelling OBANAI
OBANAI is six letters, opening on a vowel and closing on two. The AI at the end reads as a single glide, not as two separate sounds, and that is where guesses fall apart.
