Panda is a second-year at Jujutsu High who looks like a large black and white bear, talks, wears a school jacket, and is in fact a Mutant Cursed Corpse built by the principal, Masamichi Yaga. Cursed corpses are ordinarily puppets. Panda has a will of his own, which makes him something closer to a person than anything else Yaga has made.
Most cursed corpses run on a single core. He has three, and he can switch between them mid-fight, which changes his body along with the core. The Gorilla core is the one people remember, since it exchanges finesse for a level of raw force that ends the exchange quickly. Losing a core is an injury rather than a death.
He gets the role of the sensible one in a group containing Maki, who solves problems by hitting them, and Inumaki, who cannot safely finish a sentence. Panda translates, mediates, teases, and asks questions no one else in the school is relaxed enough to ask out loud.

PANDA is the rare answer with nothing hidden in it. The Japanese is a katakana loanword taken from English, so it travels back into English unchanged, and there is no long vowel, no doubled consonant and no family name in the way. Five letters, two A's in positions two and five, and one of the easiest rows in the whole set.
