Aoi Todo is a third-year from the Kyoto school, roughly the size of two of his classmates, and he opens every meeting with the same question. Answer it well and he decides on the spot that you are his best friend, retroactively, complete with invented shared memories. Answer it badly and he beats you unconscious, which he also considers a form of instruction.
The technique is Boogie Woogie. He claps, and two things within range swap places, which sounds like a party trick until you watch him use it mid-punch. Todo thinks faster than the technique is worth on paper, and the clap turns every fight into a problem of anticipating where he wants you rather than where he is.
He is devoted to an idol named Takada, whose concerts he attends and whose merchandise he defends, and this devotion is treated by the series as a genuine source of strength rather than a running gag. Yuji answers his question correctly early on, and the two of them become the most productive tag team in the story.
Spelling TODO
TODO is four letters and it is also an ordinary English word, which is the easiest way to remember it. The Japanese is less friendly: both syllables carry long vowels, so a strict romanisation gives TOUDOU, and fan subtitles printed it that way for years. Otakana trims both. Two O's, two consonants, the given name Aoi left out.
