Power is a Blood Fiend, a devil wearing a human corpse, with two horns and no interest in the social contract. She introduces herself by lying, keeps lying once caught, blames Denji for things she did in front of him, and calls herself a genius roughly once a chapter. Her room is a health hazard. Her loyalty, when it eventually arrives, is total.
The cat is called Meowy, and the first arc of her character turns on how far she will go to keep him. Fiends are meant to be simple appetite in a stolen body. Fujimoto gives this one a pet, a rival, an ego and a genuinely bad personality, then dares a reader to get through two volumes without becoming attached.
She fights with her own blood, hardened into hammers, spears and whatever else the situation wants, which means she can arm herself by opening a vein. It is grotesque and she loves it. In a cast built mostly out of exhausted adults, Power is the one having a good time, and the popularity polls have reflected that from the start.
Spelling POWER
POWER is an ordinary English word, which is the trap on a board full of Japanese names. Devils and fiends here are named flatly for the thing they embody, and the translation keeps that literal. Five letters, one W, nothing doubled. When a row refuses to behave like Japanese, try reading it as plain English instead.
