Kyojuro Rengoku is the Flame Hashira, and the loudest polite man in the series. He speaks in declarations, eats with total concentration, and takes on three untrained recruits without a moment of condescension. Flame Breathing came to him from his father, who quit teaching it partway through, so Rengoku finished his own training out of a book and never mentioned the gap to anyone.
The Mugen Train arc is his. A demon puts an entire carriage to sleep and traps them in pleasant dreams, and Rengoku fights through a night that keeps getting worse without ever complaining about it. What his mother told him as a child, that strength exists to protect people weaker than you, is repeated once and then demonstrated for an entire arc rather than argued for.
The 2020 film adaptation of that arc became the highest-grossing film in Japanese box office history and the top-grossing film worldwide that year, which is a strange thing for a period piece about a swordsman on a train. Anyone who has seen it can tell you the line. Most of them can do the voice.
Spelling RENGOKU
RENGOKU is seven letters and Otakana wants the family name, not Kyojuro, which hides a long vowel anyway. The kanji is 煉獄, purgatory, chosen for a man who fights fire on a train through the night. Say it in four beats, re-n-go-ku, and mind the middle: it is NG across a syllable break, not a doubled consonant.
