Yoko Littner is already fighting beastmen on the surface when Kamina and Simon burst out of the ground beneath her. She carries an oversized rifle, shoots exceptionally well, and spends the early episodes as the only person present with a working sense of danger. The bikini top has been argued about continuously since 2007 and the argument shows no sign of finishing.
The character survives that argument because Gurren Lagann gives her somewhere to go. After the series jumps forward seven years she is teaching in a village school on a remote island, having decided the war is over as far as she is concerned, and she picks the rifle back up only when it turns out not to be. Marina Inoue voices her in Japanese.
Her aim is written as skill rather than a gift, and she is the one who tells the boys when a plan is stupid. She is usually right and usually ignored. In a series about believing your way through solid rock, somebody has to be doing the arithmetic, and Yoko does it from a ridge, prone, through a scope.
Spelling YOKO
YOKO is four letters and the Japanese is ヨーコ, carrying a long first vowel that romanises as Yooko or with a macron over the O. English drops it, so the tiles want the short form. Two O's alternating with a Y and a K, and the game asks for the given name rather than Littner.
