Feitan handles interrogation for the Troupe, which in practice means torture, and he is unnervingly casual about the work. He wears a high collar over his face, carries a sword hidden in an umbrella, and moves fast enough that opponents describe the aftermath rather than the attack. Like Chrollo and most of the others, he came out of Meteor City with no records and no reason to respect anyone else's.
His Nen ability only appears when he has been hurt badly enough to lose his temper. Rising Sun turns the damage he has taken into heat, and he releases it wearing armour shaped like a sun, cooking everything in range. It is a conditional power in a series full of them, and the condition is that somebody has to make him angry first, which almost nobody manages twice.
The speech is a translation puzzle. In Japanese Feitan drops particles and mangles grammar, so he reads as a foreigner speaking rough Japanese, and English versions render that as broken English. It is a small characterisation choice that survives the trip between languages, which is rarer than it sounds. Togashi gives him a fan following far larger than his page count justifies.
Spelling FEITAN
FEITAN is six letters and the EI pair is the whole test. It is not FIETAN and not FAITAN. The Japanese reads fe-i-tan, three beats, and the name is styled to look Chinese rather than Japanese, which is why nothing about it follows the usual romanisation habits. Lock the E before the I and the rest of the row is straightforward.
