Isaac Netero chairs the Hunter Association, which mostly means paperwork, elections and setting exams, and he treats the job as a hobby he has held for too long. He first appears at the Hunter Exam as a small laughing old man who challenges candidates to take a ball off him, a game nobody wins, and he keeps laughing through it. Gon and Killua spend hours failing and learn more than they expected.
The training behind it is religious in form. He climbed a mountain, prayed, and threw punches by the hundred thousand every day, bowing in gratitude before each one, until the gratitude and the movement became the same act. What came out of it is the Hundred-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva, a vast statue of aura that appears behind him and strikes at the speed of his prayer, faster than his own body can move.
By the time the Chimera Ants arrive he is old, aware he is past his peak, and the strongest option the Association has. He goes anyway. Netero is Togashi's argument that plain discipline still gets somewhere terrifying, and also that an institution will always send the person who trained hardest rather than the one it can spare.
Spelling NETERO
NETERO is the family name, the given name is Isaac, and the game wants the surname. Six letters alternating consonant and vowel, with two E's and an O and nothing hidden anywhere. The katakana transliterates straight across, which makes this one of the easier Hunter x Hunter names to type once you have heard it. NETERO, three beats, no traps.
