Satoru Mikami dies protecting a colleague from a mugger, and his last few muttered thoughts get taken literally by whatever handles reincarnation. He asked not to feel heat or cold and not to be hurt, and he arrives as a slime: no eyes, no nose, and the ability to swallow an object, analyse it, and keep whatever it could do.
That ability turns the story into a collection problem. He swallows a sealed dragon and comes away with a friend and a family name. He swallows plants, monsters and skills, and builds a town out of goblins and ogres nobody has ever treated decently. Most of the series is administration, and it is unusually good at making administration interesting.
Fuse serialised the web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou from 2013, Micro Magazine published it as a light novel from 2014, and 8bit animated it from 2018. The slime form drives the merchandising for the whole franchise. It is also a real tactical advantage, since nobody negotiates carefully with a blob.
Spelling RIMURU
RIMURU is six letters and every second one is a vowel: ri-mu-ru, three clean beats. The trap is the pair of R's, because リムル has no L anywhere and neither does the English, which is unusual for a fantasy name of this shape. Two R's, two U's, and the row is mostly vowels once you have found them.
