Caesar Zeppeli fights with the Ripple, the breathing technique that pushes sunlight-natured energy through the body, and he channels it into bubbles. Bubble Cutter slices. Bubble Launcher swarms. Bubble Lenses focus light hard enough to burn. It sounds ridiculous until you watch a man be cut in half by something that came off a bar of soap, which is roughly the operating principle of the entire second part of JoJo.
His grandfather was Will A. Zeppeli, who died helping the first Joestar, and the Zeppeli habit of dying for a Joestar sits on him like a diagnosis. He meets Joseph Joestar in Rome, dislikes him instantly, and then spends a month in Venice training under Lisa Lisa alongside him. Both of them have to climb an oiled pillar and stay on a column of oil without touching it. The dislike does not survive that.
Hirohiko Araki drew Battle Tendency from 1987, naming the Zeppeli line after Led Zeppelin as he named half the cast after rock acts. Caesar is the part's second lead and its emotional load-bearing wall: brittle, vain about his hair, and the only person in the story who takes the Pillar Men seriously from the start.
Spelling CAESAR
CAESAR is six letters and the vowel pair is where guesses go wrong. It is AE, in the Roman order, not the CEASAR that most people type on the first try. Two A's, one at position two and one at position five, with the S between them. If you can spell the Roman general you can spell the bubble user, because Araki used exactly the same word.
