Giorno wants to become a gang-star. The plan is to climb Passione, the organisation that sells drugs to schoolchildren in Naples, take the top of it, and then aim the whole machine at protecting the people it currently preys on. He is polite about this. He announces it early, to men who could kill him, in the tone of someone reading out a delivery address.
His Stand is Gold Experience, which turns objects into living things. A rock becomes a snake, a scrap of metal becomes a frog, a broken chair leg becomes a tree growing out of a man. He also uses it to give life to wounds, which sounds like healing and is closer to accelerating a body until it cannot keep up. Jokes about him rarely mention the frogs. They mention what he does with them.
His birth name is Haruno Shiobana, which the Japanese text renders so that the syllables land almost on top of the Italian. Golden Wind ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1995, and David Production animated it in 2018. Then the internet found his theme, and now four piano notes are enough to make a comment section rewrite whatever just happened as a Requiem.
Spelling GIORNO
GIORNO is Italian for day, and the Italian spelling is the trap. The I after the G does not get its own sound, it softens the G into a J, so anyone typing what they hear will try JORNO or GIONO. Six letters, two O's at positions three and six, and the R sits between them. Given name; the family name Giovanna is a different row.
