Jolyne Cujoh takes a ride with the wrong boyfriend, gets charged with a hit-and-run she did not commit, and lands in Green Dolphin Street Prison on a fifteen-year sentence. Her father, whom she has barely seen, sends a pendant. The pendant unravels a thread from her finger, and the thread turns out to be her Stand. Stone Free lets her come apart into string and put herself back together, which is a useful trick inside a locked building.
She is the sixth Joestar to lead a part and the first woman to do it. That changes the texture of the fights. Stone Ocean is full of confinement, searches, cell transfers and people who cannot simply walk away from an opponent, so the string does most of its work as wire, snare and stitching rather than as a fist.
Araki serialised Stone Ocean in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1999 to 2003, closing out the original continuity before the Steel Ball Run reset. Netflix released David Production's adaptation in batches from late 2021, twenty years after the manga, and the long wait meant a whole generation of readers watched the prison break knowing exactly how it ends.
Spelling JOLYNE
JOLYNE is six letters and both vowels lie. The Y sits where an I sounds like it belongs, and the final E is silent, so the word looks longer than it sounds. Her surname is romanised Cujoh while her father's identical Japanese name is romanised Kujo, which tells you how little consistency there is here. The row wants the given name.
