Enji Todoroki burns. His quirk, Hellflame, produces heat he can hold at an intensity nobody else sustains, and it kept him ranked second among Japan's professional heroes for years. Second was never the plan. Unable to close the gap himself, he arranged a marriage for the quirk it would produce in his children, then ran the resulting family as a training programme.
This is the ugliest thread in the series and Kohei Horikoshi refuses to resolve it cheaply. Endeavor eventually reaches number one, takes no satisfaction from it, and starts trying to be a father to children with every reason to refuse him. Nobody in the story tells them they ought to forgive him. What the arc actually asks is what a man owes once the damage cannot be undone.
He is drawn as a walking wall of flame with a permanent scowl, and his agency becomes one of the show's main settings once he takes on students. His hero name is an English word borrowed whole, which is the house style for this world: Hawks, Best Jeanist and Mount Lady all arrive by the same route. The costume is the man, and the man is a furnace.
Spelling ENDEAVOR
Eight letters, ENDEAVOR, and the trap has nothing to do with Japanese. The hero name is an English word and the series uses the American spelling, so the British ENDEAVOUR, with a U after the O, runs one letter long and fails. His real name, Enji Todoroki, is not what the row wants. Watch the EA in the middle, since that is the pair people transpose.
