Hanta Sero fires strong adhesive tape from dispensers built into both elbows, sticks it to anything, and reels himself in. Within 1-A that puts him mid-table for raw power and near the top for mobility. He binds villains, redirects falling debris, and gets around a fight faster than most of the classmates with far flashier abilities on paper.
He is also the most reliably normal person in a very loud cast, which such a cast badly needs. Sero jokes, keeps his head, gets along with everyone including Bakugo, and takes a loss without a crisis about it. The sports festival hands him one of the better upsets in the tournament bracket and then one of the more brutal defeats, and he has shaken both off by the following episode.
His hero name is Cellophane, and the family name is the same joke twice. Kohei Horikoshi built most of 1-A around a single visual idea each, and Sero's is tape, down to the flat rectangular helmet. Bones animates the swinging with a weight the original panels only imply, which is the strongest argument going that he is underrated.
Spelling SERO
Four letters, SERO, the family name; the given name is Hanta and the hero name is Cellophane. All three are one joke, because sero is the front of the Japanese word for sticky tape, borrowed from cellophane. Two beats, se-ro. The vowels carry the row, and the usual misses are SERU and SIRO rather than anything involving the consonants.
