Gray Fullbuster makes things out of ice. Not blasts of it: shapes. Hammers, lances, cages, staircases, a shield built in the second before impact. Ice-make comes in two schools and he uses the static one, freezing objects into existence, while his teacher's other student preferred living forms. The magic is fast, precise and completely dependent on him picturing the thing clearly before he casts it.
The stripping is a training scar. Ur taught him in the snow and made him practise half dressed so his body would stop treating cold as an emergency. It worked. It also left him removing his clothes without noticing, usually mid-conversation, occasionally mid-fight, and always to somebody's loud disgust. Fairy Tail plays it for laughs for years before going back to explain where it came from.
His feud with Natsu is the guild's background noise. Fire against ice, two people who cannot share a room without one of them starting something, and a partnership that works every time it actually matters. Hiro Mashima had drawn a version of this pairing before in Rave Master, and Fairy Tail expands it until it becomes the guild's whole personality.
Spelling GRAY
GRAY or GREY: that is the entire puzzle, and the game wants GRAY with an A. Four letters, one vowel and a Y doing vowel work at the end, which makes the row easy to fill once you commit. The Japanese, グレイ, gives no help either way. His surname, Fullbuster, is longer and more fun and never appears on the board.
