Joseph is loud, dishonest and allergic to a fair fight, which makes him the exact opposite of his grandfather Jonathan. Faced with an enemy he cannot beat, he lies, runs, sets a trap, hides in a barrel or hands over a live grenade with a smile. He wins constantly. The famous habit, calling out an opponent's next line word for word, works because he has already decided what he is going to make them say.
He fights with the Ripple, taught by Lisa Lisa in Venice, and he carries a pair of clackers into his early battles because nobody told him not to. The enemies he faces in Battle Tendency are the Pillar Men, ancient beings who treat vampires as livestock, so the odds never look survivable and he never behaves as though they are.
He returns in Stardust Crusaders decades later as a grey-haired grandfather with a Stand called Hermit Purple and a habit of shouting in English. Between the two appearances he is the character who ties the generations together, and Araki has said the second part was where he found the tone the series kept for the next thirty years.
Spelling JOSEPH
JOSEPH is six letters and the ending is the awkward part. PH makes an F sound, so typing what you hear gives JOSEF, which is a real name and the wrong one. Every JoJo protagonist opens with JO, so those two tiles come free. After that the row is a straight biblical spelling with a single S. Given name; Joestar is the family.
