Josuke is a high-school student in the small coastal town of Morioh whose Stand, Crazy Diamond, restores anything it strikes. Broken bones knit, smashed cars reassemble, a severed hand goes back on. There is one exception: he cannot repair himself. Diamond Is Unbreakable spends forty volumes finding uses for that rule, including gluing an enemy to a wall and rebuilding a corpse enough to ask it a question.
The hair is the only reliable way to make him lose his temper. A stranger once helped him when he was sick as a small boy and wore that exact pompadour, so mocking it is the single insult he will not take, from anyone, ever. The story treats this as a punchline for years before it explains it.
Part 4 also changed what a JoJo story could be about. Instead of a march towards a distant villain, it settles into one town and lets a serial killer hide inside ordinary life, so most chapters are neighbours, part-time jobs and a very strange local restaurant. Araki based Morioh on his hometown of Sendai, and the town is more or less a character.
Spelling JOSUKE
JOSUKE is six letters and the last one is pronounced. Japanese has no silent E, so it reads jo-su-ke in three beats, not the JOH-sook that English instinct produces. The row wants the given name rather than Higashikata, which is a mercy given the length of that one. JO opens it, as it opens every hero in this series.
