Twilight is a Westalian agent who has worn so many identities he has trouble remembering the original one. Operation Strix requires him to get close to a reclusive Ostanian politician, and the only route runs through the man's sons' school, so the mission specification reads: acquire a child, enrol the child, acquire a wife for the interview. He does all three inside a week, hiring an assassin as the wife and adopting a telepath as the daughter, without knowing either fact.
As Loid Forger he is a psychiatrist with a spotless flat and an enormous number of contingency plans. The comedy comes from a man of genuine competence being defeated by ordinary parenting. He can neutralise a room of armed men. He cannot get a six-year-old to study, and he keeps mistaking her mind-reading for insight.
The premise cuts deeper than the setup suggests. He does the job because he saw a war as a child and wants no other child to see one, and the fake family he assembled to prevent that war is the first stable thing he has had. He has not written that in a report.
Spelling LOID
LOID is four letters and one of them is a substitution. The Japanese is ロイド, Roido, with an R, and English swapped it for an L as it did with Luffy. The name also looks like a trimmed Lloyd, so guessers reach for a second L or a Y that this row does not have. OI is a single vowel pair in the middle. Given name; Forger is the cover surname.
