Meliodas is the Dragon's Sin of Wrath and the reason the order existed at all. He appears to be a teenager, is very much not one, and has spent the years since the group was framed running a travelling tavern with a waitress who has no idea what he is. His sword is broken and he keeps using it anyway, which turns out to matter later.
His fighting style is Full Counter: reflect an incoming attack back at whoever threw it, harder. It is a defensive power that punishes aggression, which suits a captain who spends most fights refusing to start one. Between fights he is a groper, a terrible cook, and relentlessly cheerful, and the series lets that behaviour sit next to a body count that keeps quietly growing in the background.
The name is Arthurian. In the old romances King Meliodas of Lyonesse is the father of Tristan, and Nakaba Suzuki pulls half his cast from the same shelf: Merlin, King, Ban, Gowther, Arthur Pendragon himself. Very little of the borrowing survives contact with the actual legends, which was never really the point of borrowing it.
Spelling MELIODAS
MELIODAS is eight letters and the vowel order is the whole test, since it is MELIO rather than MELO or MELODI, with the I fourth and the O fifth. Say it in four beats, me-li-o-das. Four vowels in eight letters means one confirmed vowel position is worth a great deal here, and the captain has no surname to complicate the row.
