Merlin is the Boar's Sin of Gluttony, the order's magician, and by some distance its least trustworthy member. Her power is Infinity, which holds any spell she casts at the moment she cast it: a fire that never goes out, a freeze that never thaws, a wound that will not close. She also carries a floating orb called Aldan and a firm habit of not explaining herself.
Gluttony in her case is intellectual. She collects magical objects, rare creatures and interesting people, and she has more than once let a disaster proceed a little further than necessary because she wanted to see what it would do. Every alliance she makes has a second reason behind it, and the series is in no hurry whatsoever to tell you what any of them are.
The gender swap is the joke the character opens with and the least interesting thing about her. Nakaba Suzuki lifts the name from the legends, ages her past three millennia, and makes her the one person who knows what actually happened during the events the rest of the cast only half remember. She uses that advantage constantly and without much warning.
Spelling MERLIN
MERLIN is six letters and there is no Japanese trap to catch you, since the name arrives from English legend and the katakana マーリン sends it back with a long vowel English never writes. The vowels are an E and an I, one each, which is worth knowing early. Watch the middle: it is RL and not LR, and Japanese blurs those two sounds into one.
